The Uttar Pradesh Open School (UPOS) is an autonomous board running under the auspices of Open Schooling of Uttar Pradesh Government’s Education Department (Following the rules and regulations of The Uttar Pradesh Open School Act,2008 U.P Act No. 27 of 2008- As Passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature Dated-29 August 2008). UPOS provides educational opportunities to persons like you, who wish to study further and qualify for a better tomorrow. The mission of UPOS is to provide education to all with special concern to school girls and women, rural youth, working men and women who because of one or the other reason could not continue their education with the formal system.

The Uttar Pradesh Open School UPOS has been established to work as bridge between the Govt. and Rural/Backward Classes of India. as an Autonomous Body, for the Promulgation and dissemination of Education at State & National level.

Our Mission

The mission of UPOS is to provide learner-centric quality school education, skill upgradation, and training through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education. Our goal is to ensure that education is accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic background, by offering flexible learning opportunities.

Authority and Certification

UPOS, under the auspices of the Open Schooling initiative of the Indian Government’s Education Department, is vested with the authority to register, examine, and certify students up to pre-degree level courses. Our programs deliver education through printed materials, face-to-face counseling (Personal Contact Programmes), lab practicals/training, eBooks, and online support.

Curriculum and Equivalence

The syllabi, duration, examination, and certification standards of UPOS align with those of formal examinees under the Indian Government’s Education Department’s Open Schooling. Our certification is equivalent to that of other member boards of Open Schooling on a reciprocal basis, ensuring wide recognition and acceptance.
